Cotton Canvas fabric comes with multiple mother nature environmentally friendly properties unlike man made fiber that has to undergo intensive treatments which in process results in high carbon emissions. Furthermore, cotton is a naturally grown and harvested raw material which means it also degrades organically giving it a longer product life cycle that allows cotton canvas fabric to be reused in multiple renewable ways.

Breathability

This natural fiber allows air to circulate & move freely through the fabric, which makes heat more bearable.

Insulation

Cotton is non-allergenic and adaptable; it insulates and absorbs more cost effectively than any synthetic or artificial fabric created through high carbon emitting processes. Cotton is used in warm climates because it wicks moisture away from the skin.

UV protection

Cotton canvas has a naturally high tendency to absorbs or blocks harmful UV radiation and remains one of the most effective forms of protection against sun damage and skin cancer.

WHITE DUCK OUTDOORS IS PROUDLY THE FIRST OUTDOOR CANVAS TENT BRAND TO INTRODUCE PFC FREE FINISH.

Cotton canvas has high natural absorption and wicking values. With the growth in consumption of cotton canvas fabric, scientists discovered and utilized the absorptive nature of cotton canvas fabric by impregnating with Paraffin wax that would make the fabric waterproof while retaining the transpiration nature to offer customers a breathable & comforting experience all four seasons.

The industry further evolved by introducing complex yet highly efficient and durable chemical treatments that would introduce stronger water resistance to the fabric compared to the traditional Paraffin wax. However, Greenpeace and other environment friendly global organizations started reporting severe environmental damage caused by specific chemical components in the process: poly-fluorinated chemicals (PFC). PFC is emitted in the environment during the manufacturing and consumption of the treated canvas fabric and when spread it breaks down extremely slowly which accumulates in water, air and glaciers eventually causing health problems in humans and animals.

Today, environmentally responsible outdoor, garment and apparel global brands are moving towards PFC free finishes.
